The Original Version
How It Started
The Chrome Dinosaur Game, also known as T-Rex Runner or Dino, is built into Google Chrome. On the “No Internet” page, pressing Space starts an endless run through a pixel desert.
The game is also available while online: enter chrome://dino in Chrome’s address bar.
What It Did
The T-Rex runs automatically. Cacti appear first and pterodactyls arrive later, while the score and speed increase as the run continues.
Press Space or the Up arrow to jump and Down to duck. A collision ends the run, after which you can restart.
Impact and Reach
The pixel T-Rex has also appeared outside Chrome. A collectible toy, covered by 9to5Google in 2019, brought the dinosaur off the screen.
Fan projects have taken the game in other directions, including Priler’s 3D adaptation, which moves the camera behind the running T-Rex.
What’s Enhanced Here
Chrome’s classic runner remains available, while its Birthday and Olympic editions were temporary. This page keeps those special editions within reach alongside the classic game.
The Enhanced Experience
What’s Different Here
This version adds AI/Bot Mode for automatic jumping and ducking, plus a Christmas theme. It also links to the preserved Birthday and Olympic editions and a fan-made 3D version.
The Easter Egg Experience
Click the button above to open the runner and start jumping over cacti. As the pace rises, pterodactyls join the course. You can jump over obstacles or duck under low-flying pterodactyls. For a different run, switch on the Christmas theme or choose a special edition from the menu; AI/Bot Mode is also available if you want to watch the dinosaur handle the obstacles.
How to Try It
- Click the button above to start the game.
- Press the spacebar on a computer, or tap the screen on a phone, to jump.
- Press the Down arrow to duck under low pterodactyls.
- Check the “AI/Bot Mode” box if you want to watch the dinosaur run by itself.
- Click the Santa icon for the Christmas mode, or pick a special edition such as the Olympic events.
- When you crash, start a new run and try to beat your score.
The Birthday edition marked Chrome’s 10th anniversary in 2018. The Olympic editions followed for the Tokyo 2020 Games, held in 2021.
Final Thoughts
AI/Bot Mode lets you watch how the dinosaur times its jumps and ducks before you try them yourself.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
What is the Chrome Dinosaur Game?
The Chrome Dinosaur Game is Google’s official offline runner built into Chrome. It first appeared in 2014 on the No Internet page, where a small pixel T-Rex waited for players to press Space and run.
The game is also known as T-Rex Runner or the chrome://dino game. You jump over cacti, duck under pterodactyls, and keep going until one obstacle finally catches the dinosaur.
This website keeps the classic run playable and gives you a quick way into AI/Bot Mode, the Christmas mode, and the Birthday, Olympic, and 3D Dino editions.
How do I play the classic Chrome Dinosaur Game?
Start the run and keep your eyes on the next obstacle. The controls take seconds to learn, but the game keeps speeding up, so every run gets harder.
- Press Space, the Up arrow, or tap to jump.
- Press Down to duck when pterodactyls fly low.
- Stay alive as the score climbs and the desert moves faster.
- Try AI/Bot Mode, the Christmas mode, or the version menu when you want something different.
Is the original Chrome Dinosaur Game still available?
Yes. The classic Chrome Dinosaur Game remains part of Chrome and can still be opened from the No Internet page or from chrome://dino.
This website keeps the classic runner alongside the Birthday and Olympic editions, which were only available in Chrome for a limited time.
